Barney “Chin” Skipper Floyd was born May 29, 1948 to the parentage of Jessie Floyd Jr. and Minnie Lee Floyd.
He attended Sabine Valley Elementary, Maggie B. Hudson Jr. High, and Mary C. Womack where he played basketball and graduated in 1966.
Barney enlisted in the United States Army in 1968 and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. From 1968 to 1974, Barney served his country and received an honorable discharge.
He began his truck driving career in Dallas, TX at FF&E Trucking and later J.B. Hunt Trucking until he retired.
Barney was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Montgomery, sisters Glenda Faye Floyd Gutherie, Easter May Floyd, Patricia Ann Banks and Kathy Jean Floyd Baker.
He leaves to cherish his memories siblings: Peggy Thomas, Roy Floyd, Charles Floyd (Flesheia), Shelia Thompson, Terri Richardson (Donald), Marcus Floyd (Denise), Jessie Floyd III and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
