Mrs. Charlie Milvie Lucas was the 9th child born to Mr. Charlie M. Lucas and Luella Jackson Lucas.
Mrs. Bates united with the Post Oak C.M.E. Church at an early age, and has been a faithful member until her demise on March 28, 2020.
She was a member of the Senior Choir, President of the Usher Board and Missionary member of the Heroines of Jericho. She was also a manager and cook in the Kilgore I.S.D. until she retired. She gave the best child care 40 plus years.
Mrs. Bates was married to the late Webster Bates for 64 years. To this union, three children were born.
Deceased sisters and brothers Ardee Lucas, Judson Lucas, Nathadis Lucas, Elzie Lucas, Dayner Daniels, Versia Thurmond, Ora B. Lucas and Debra Daniels.
She leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, LaVonne (Lacy) Burton of Albany, GA and Corrie Bates Byrdsong of Longview, TX and one son, Webster Roydell Bates of Longview, TX; 2 brothers, Calvin C. Lucas (Aileen) of Tyler, TX and Shannon R. Lucas (Naomi) of Liberty City, TX; 4 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, numerous relatives and friends; god-son, L. C. Robinson; and life-time friend, Dorothy Templeton.
