Cloteal Victoria Carter, 98, native of Longview, Texas gained her Heavenly reward on Monday, June 26, 2023.
Cloteal was born December 29, 1924, in Rusk County, Texas to John and Elena Beckworth. She grew up in Mayflower, Texas where she received her education and attended the Smith Chapel Church. By trade, Cloteal was a cook; she exhibited her talents at the Marcham Hospital for many years and shared her love with others. She later expanded her professional journey with the Good Shepherd Medical Center where she would later retire.
Cloteal was a devout Christian and faithful member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Longview, Texas where she served in various capacities. These capacities included the Mass choir, Missionary choir, Hospitality service, Kitchen ministry, Sunday School teacher, and Craft expert for Vacation Bible School.
She was joined in matrimony with Edward Carter and was the proud, loving mother of eight beautiful children.
Cloteal is preceded in death by her parents, John and Elena, her husband, Edward, and four of her precious children, first-born Myra Campbell, third-born Frank Devance, fourth-born Espanola Carter, and eighth-born John Earl Carter.
She is survived by her children: Maxine Bowens of Longview, Texas; George (LaTonya) Carter of Marshall, Texas; Ceolar (Rocklan) Faggans of Longview, Texas; Vickie Lynn Carter of Longview, Texas, Carolyn (Duane) Gentry, Longview, Texas; and Joyce Brantley, Dallas TX; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 23 great-greatgrandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends and loved ones. Cloteal will be missed, and her smile will ALWAYS be remembered!
