DORIS L. TAYLOR was born October 26, 1930, to Axim and Elza Ruth Denton. She was the 6th child of 11 children, who preceded her in death: Mickey, A D, Lawrence, T B, Haymon, Jewel, James and Geraldine.

Doris grew up in the Mount Pleasant community. She committed her life to God at an early age to the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of Hallsville, Texas. Doris was tireless in her work for the church until her health failed. Her duties at the church were: a Deaconess, member of the choir, custodian, announcing clerk, usher, member of the Missionary Ministry and culinary director. Doris loved to prepare delicious desserts and food for the church or any community occasion.

She was employed for 18 years with the Hallsville Independent School District.

Doris married Perry D. Taylor on June 19, 1949, and to their union three children were born. They celebrated 63 years together as husband and wife.

Doris will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and admiring grandmother. She will be remembered as a woman that loved to serve her community, neighboring communities and most important a woman who loved God and her family.

Doris departed this life on December 24, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents Axim and Elza Ruth Denton; her son Theartic Taylor; a granddaughter Kristen D. Young; a great grandson Justin L. Taylor.
