Edna F. Adams was born to the parentage of Edgar Tatum and Edna Hicks Tatum .
Edna completed her education at Sunset High School in Beckville, Texas. Edna would go on to marry James Enoch Adams. “Chay and Enoch”, as they were affectionately called, enjoyed more than 50 years of martial bliss. God blessed this union with four beautiful daughters.
“Chay” was well-known in the community (on the hill) for her sweet potato pies, hot water cornbread and fried chicken.
Edna joined Bethel at an early age and was known as “Mama Chay”. She was a faithful member until her health declined.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, parents, grandson Brannon Adams; siblings, Howard, Charles, Melvin and Lawrence Tatum, Merlene Harper, Earnestine Tatum, and Erma Carter.
Loving memories will be cherished by her daughters: Ruby Faye Adams, Sandra Adams, Debra Anderson and her son-in-law Bill, Bredget Mumphrey and her son-in-law Quentin; grandchildren, LaTuria Nelson, Ji-Tu Adams, Rodrick Adams, Desmond Nelson, Drayton Adams (Shirell), Jaime Adams, Markeith Anderson; great-grandchildren, Brodrick Adams, Kristin Wall, Ja’Shon Adams, Jastyn Nelson, Da’Kaylon Nelson, Jaidyn Flanagan, Xzavior Alexander, Ayden Adams, Dezariah Nelson, Jadyn Johnson, Sidney Anderson and De’Lance Adams; two loving sisters, Lorene Veasey and Shirley Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends “on the hill”, and her church family who will miss Mama Chay dearly.
