ERNEST MARVIN JONES entered this temporary home June 7, 1940, in Longview, Texas to his loving parents Earnest and Ethel Jones.
Ernest accepted Christ at an early age at Pleasant Green Baptist Church.
He attended Ned E. Williams and South Side Elementary School before attending Longview Negro High School where he graduated in 1959. Afterwards, he attended Prairie View A&M College of Texas during which he married his high school sweetheart.
After attending Texas College for one year, Ernest, wife, and son moved to Denver, Colorado where he was employed with Coors Brewery for a few years. Then, Ernest decided to return home and was employed by Stemco for 6 years and Continental Can where he retired after 28 years. Subsequent to retirement from Continental Can, he worked for Longview ISD and retired after a number of years.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carmenia Jones Anderson, and sister Beverly Ann Jones.
He leaves to mourn and celebrate his life, his wife of 62 years, Juanita Jones; four sons, Michael and Cedric Jones of Longview, Texas, David and Cornelius (Tonya) Jones of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Michael (Clementine) of Kilgore, Texas and Wyndham Jones of Longview, Texas, Kennedy Jones of Houston, Texas; step‐grandson, Jaylen Levingston of Houston, Texas; great‐grandchildren, Jayda, Ma’lea, Michael J., and Maddox of Kilgore, Texas; first cousin, Bobbie Dearion of Longview, Texas; special family friends, Anthony Jackson, Timeka Thomas, Janice Fletcher Rallings, and Jennifer Magill; and a host of other relatives and friends.
