Gerry was born on April 11, 1964, to Howard and Pearline Moore in Longview, Texas. He grew up in Longview, attended Pleasant Green Baptist Church and accepted Christ at an early age.
While in high school, like many young men, Gerry took pride in playing on the Lobo football team. After graduating from Longview High School in 1982, he went on to study Business at Kilgore College. Shortly after college, Gerry relocated to Dallas, Texas and worked at several places before beginning his career at First Republic Bank (NCNB, Nations Bank). After working in banking for approximately 10 years, he left and started a long and rewarding career in semi-conducting and manufacturing with ST Microelectronics and finally working for Texas Instruments.
Gerry was known for many things but is especially known for his laid-back easy-going personality and likability. People found him easy to get along with and enjoyed his humorous and cheerful outlook. Everyone who met him seemed to love him and found it a joy to be in his presence. He was affectionately known as “G-Moe” to his many friends and acquaintances. His sister, Wanda, who was his biggest fan, is often quoted as saying “They treat him like he’s a rockstar!”
Like most people, Gerry had his passions. If you knew him, you knew he was an avid bowler and a 2007 championship winner earning a 300 watch and 300 ring. His second passion (maybe his first) was the Dallas Cowboys. Win or lose, he was a Cowboys fan. If the Cowboys won, then it would be a wonderful day. If they lost, he would have a horrible day and so would you!
Gerry is preceded in death by his father: Howard Moore and aunts: Kay Nell Moore and Mellonese Davis.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one son: Bradley McDaniel (Dallas, Texas); mother: Pearline Jackson (Dallas, Texas); sister: Wanda Moore (Dallas, Texas); aunts: Willie Pearl Jackson (Longview, Texas), Willie Mae (Joe) Pierce (Longview, Texas), and Alice Nealy (Houston, Texas); uncles: Glenn (Shirley) Moore (Longview, Texas) and Calvin (Jackie) Moore (Longview, Texas) and a host of other relatives and friends. He also leaves behind a very special friend, Diane Henburg and her family.
