J. Brantley Obituary

A Glimpse in the Life of Our Great Daddy

J. D. Brantley was born May 10, 1923 in Hallsville, Texas to John and Leola (Eddings) Brantley. He worked at the saw mill for many years for Paul W. Lee and later on the ranch for Dr. Rushing and Dr. Grogan. Of his nature, he labored in many various areas helping people, such as carpentry, plumbing and etc. Many things he could and did do. He enjoyed doing lawn care during his retirement years. Dad loved people and enjoyed the company of those around him. He really loved talking on the phone. He was definitely a people person.

On February 5, 2022, our dear beloved daddy & papa transitioned and stepped into eternity, closing the final chapters of his earthly life and was graciously ushered and received into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ.

“Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing” Proverbs 18:22

He was united in marriage with Beulah Alford December 24, 1943. They were blessed them with 6 children, daughter Georgia (Anderson) Brantley, Marshall, Texas, son Johnny D. Brantley, Longview, Texas, son Charles Lee Brantley (deceased), daughter Zettia (Ramsey) Brantley, son Carl Everett Brantley and son Kenneth Wayne Brantley (deceased). Daddy adored and loved his kids and grandchildren.

“Born-Again, Alive & Risen to Eternal Life”

Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold all things are become new” 2 Corinthians 5:17

He became a believer in Jesus Christ December 31, 1993. He faithfully attended Good News Christian Center Church under Pastor C. J. Michel, Marshall, Texas and Word of Life Center under Pastor Sam Carr, Shreveport Louisiana. He always looked forward going to church with his daughter Georgia Anderson who led him to the Lord. When he was able, he also attended church with his son Kenneth. He was passionate about his experience in Christ Jesus. He would always say to me, baby I didn't know, but now I do. God don't hurt us. He ain't got nothing but good. He would say, you know it makes a difference. The devil comes to steal, kill and destroy and after that, it ain't nothing else left. He was a believer in prayer.

“To Die Is To Gain” Philippians 1:21b
