Jesse Shelton Obituary

Jesse Lee Shelton was born October 3, 1973 to Thelma Roosevelt Shelton and Beaulah Lee Brookins Shelton in Longview, Texas. He attended school in Tatum, TX where he later graduated in 1993.

Jesse worked at Longview Grounds and Maintenance, McDaniel's Quality Body Works and Jack in The Box all located in Longview, TX.

Jesse's health failed him in 2016, when he had a massive stroke. I must say, he put up a good fight for his life for 5 years. The Lord seen him struggling and decided to call him home where he would be at peace.

Jesse was the baby boy, but he took the role of the oldest boy. He did not mind speaking his peace. He was a very caring and loving father, brother, son, and uncle to all. He was well known as “Jelly Roll.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, father, Thelma Roosevelt Shelton, mother, Beaulah Lee Brookins Carpenter and two nephews Kenyata Shelton and LaDerion Shelton.

He leaves to cherish his son, DeWaylon Bender and one grandson, D'Marlee Bender both of Longview, TX; siblings, Pamela (Roy) Halton, Felicia (Wayne) Shelton, Rosie  Davis, Johnnie (Sheena) Shelton, Larry Shelton, Franklin (Pauline) Shelton, Lucilus (Yvette) Shelton all of Longview, TX, Theresita Mayfield and Terrence Shelton both of California; two aunts, Brenda Smith of Longview, TX and Opal McCowin of Detroit, MI; one uncle, Wilbert Brookins of Longview, TX along with a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
