John Henry Garrett, the son of the late Joe Henry and Laura Garrett, was born July 6, 1949, in Gregg County, Texas. He resided in Longview until he graduated from Mary C. Womack in1969.
John obeyed the gospel at an early age and was a faithful member of Union Church of Christ. He loved all sports and excelled in track. And received several awards in competitions against other schools. After graduation, he moved to Dallas, Texas and lived in California for a while. While living in California, he gained the nickname “Kiko”.
John was well known for his love of fashion, his sense of humor, and love of food.
John was preceded in death by seven brothers: Winston, Elzie (PI), W.E, Joe Willis, Leon, Mac Arthur, Eddie, and three sisters: Ida Sibley, Dorothea, and Mary Lee.
He was the father of one, Keithur Romeo Daniels and the grandfather of 2: Keiandrea Daniels, Keianthony Daniels and great grandfather of 5. John moved back to Longview where he resided until his death.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories four sisters: Bobbie Jean Sammons, (Tatum, Texas); Edith Paris, Ruby Moore (both of Longview, Texas); Phyllis Rattler (Bossier City, Louisiana); and two brothers: Douglas (Sharon) Garrett (Balch Springs, Texas); La Alwyn (Carolyn) Garrett (Longview, Texas); special friend Carolyn Traylor, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
