Johnnie Pearl "Pie" Wright Obituary

Johnnie Pearl “Pie” Wright was born on March 15, 1944 in Longview, Texas to the union of the late George and Edna Polk. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Pie married Nathaniel Wright, Jr. on February 8, 1989.


Pie was a warm and loving mother whose caring heart extended to all who came into contact with her. She held many jobs during her employment years ranging from housekeeper to pressing operator but none came close to her favorite job of being a mother and grandmother. Pie loved her family dearly and unconditionally.


Pie is preceded in death by her parents, son Morgan Wright, sister Merle McGee, brothers Carter Polk, Willie Ed Polk, and Troy Polk.


She leaves to cherish her memory, husband: Nathaniel Wright, Jr.; sons: Joe Sheffield, Jr., Johnny Sheffield, Kevin Wright, Brian Wright; daughters: Debra Carn (Kim), Patricia Sutton (Larry), Jeanell Slaughter (Sam), Natalie Wright Matthews (Kenneth); 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters: Sylvia Wells and Frankie Chism (James); brothers: James Polk, Wayne Polk (Ruth), and a host of nieces and nephews.
