June Fields Obituary

June Marie Fields was born March 31, 1942 to the parentage of William and Odessa Coby Fields in Marshall, Texas. She departed this life on Saturday August 8, 2020 in Beaumont, Texas.

June attended Mary C. Womack High School. In 1981, she earned an Associate’s Degree at Kilgore College. She established two thriving businesses in Longview, specializing in bridal events. She also worked as a substitute teacher for many years at schools in Marshall and Tatum Texas. Her passion was music. A gifted vocal-ist and pianist, she was the musician for several churches in the area, including New Zion Baptist in “Saw Mill Flats” and Saint John Baptist Church. She had a knack for developing the youth, making them excited about being in her choir. She formed bonds that re-main strong even today. She was a faithful member of New Zion Baptist Church until her health failed.

She married Raymond A. White Sr. at an early age. To this union four children were born.

Ms. Fields is preceded in death by her parents William and Odessa Fields, son Derek D. White, brother Richard L. Fields and grandson Laderion “LD” Shelton.

She leaves to cherish her memory 3 daughters: Yvette R. Shelton (LC) of Longview TX, Yolonda R. Johnson (Henry) of Beaumont, TX and Sherri L. Johnson of Houston, TX; 4 grandchildren: Nakia Wright of Longview, TX, TaVorris White (Rochelle) and Ashley Broughton of Beaumont, TX and LaDarrion “LJ” Johnson of Hou-ston, TX; 3 great-grandchildren: Ty’Kerrian, TraVorris and Roniya of Beaumont, TX; an adopted son, Raymond White Jr of Reno, Ne-vada; an adopted daughter: Marva Addison; niece: Tonya Spurling; nephews: Marcus and Eric Fields of California and a very special cousin and best friend: Mrs. Pearl Tatum of Lancaster, TX. She will also be missed by a host of other friends and acquaintances.
