Kenneth Harris Obituary

Mr. Kenneth Earl Harris was born on September 13, 1955, in Longview, Texas to the late James and Dara Lee Harris. On April 29, 2024, Kenneth departed to his heavenly home.

Kenneth attended Longview High School in the 1970’s. He enjoyed playing many sports but really loved the game of basketball. He was baptized at an early age at Bethel Baptist Church of Longview by Reverend T.F. Simmons. Kenneth then joined The Boy Scouts of America as a young man.

Kenneth was employed by Tuboscope of Kilgore, Texas where he flourished in his career and met many new brothers of the oil patch. After 39 years of service, Kenneth retired in 2019. He was loved and called by many names, such as dad, papa, uncle, brother, and Mr. Harris (AKA “Cool)”. He enjoyed spending time with his family, talking on the phone and listening to the blues. Putting on a good barbecue was one of his favorite things to do. He enjoyed the looks on others faces as they took a good bite of his ribs and other tasteful foods. Everyone can agree after talking with Kenneth you would have heard a great story, gained wisdom, or been entertained with his sarcasm.

He was preceded in death by his parents: James C. and Dara Lee Harris; sisters: Linda K. Carraway, Glenda S. Harris; and brothers: James, Willie and Roger Harris.

Mr. Kenneth leaves to cherish his memories: loving wife: Karen Harris (Overton, Texas); sons: Zachary Harris (Tyler, Texas), Victor Harris (Los Angeles, CA) and Kenyon Harris of (Kilgore, Texas); step-children: Jasmine Ingram (Longview, Texas) and Chad Lilly (Longview. Texas). siblings: Lynette Harris (Katy, Texas), Kevin Harris (Longview, Texas) and Kerwin Harris (Los Angeles, CA); special grands: Zach & AJ Harris, Jacayla & King Ingram; special niece: Nisha Robinson; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
