L'moor J. Lewis

L'Moor James Lewis was born January 5, 1953 in Hankamer, Chamber County, Texas to Alice Speights, grandson to Hilton and Corine Lewis, where he resided until elementary school.

Around that time, he moved to Longview, with Shelly (Bobby) Lewis and wife Dorothy Jean Templeton (Big Momma). He attended Womack and Longview High School, where he graduated Class of 1970. Brother Lewis was baptized at the St. Mark Baptist Church. He also attended Willow Springs Baptist and Fredonia Baptist Church during his lifespan.

He married Sikirat Lewis in 2009 in a traditional African wedding in Nigeria.

“Elmo” Lewis was a big man with a big heart. He had a way of making people laugh. His laughter was one of a kind. He had an upbeat spirit and enjoyed spending time with his family. Always there to lend a helping hand, when he could, for those around him.

He was preceded in death by his uncle Bobby Lewis, grandma Corine Lewis and brother Erbia Lewis Sr.

Precious memories will be remembered by his loving wife, Sikirat Lewis; sons, Lamoor Lewis and Lekeithan Lewis all from Longview; mother, Alice Speights; brother, Floyd Speights Jr.; sisters, Sharon Arnold and Sandra Joseph all from Hankamer, TX; 3 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
