Melvin Anthony Obituary

Rest came to Deacon Melvin Anthony, on Friday evening the 3rd of June 2022. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Benjamin and Sarah Anthony.

At the age of 19, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While serving in the Armed Forces, he served in 2 Vietnam Wars, and retired from the Air Force in 1972.  He was so proud of the grandchildren that followed in his footsteps by joining the United States Armed Forces.  He was proud to have a grandchild serve in all four branches of the United States Armed Forces.  TaShanne Casey Mathews (daughter of Denise) served in the United States Army, Nicholas Cox (son of Marian) served in the United States Navy, Charise Cox Horton (daughter of Marian) served in the United States Air Force, Chad Horton (son-in-law of Marian) served in the United States Air Force and the United States Navy, Anthony Aitch (son of Sallie) served in the United States Marines and Gregory Aitch (son of Sallie) who is yet serving in the United States Marines.

Deacon Anthony worked for the Untied States Postal Service for 12 years as well as owned a Texaco Gas Station in Reno, Nevada.

He loved working on cars, making video tapes of church events, fishing, attending Dallas Cowboy football games and fixing things. If it was broke, he would find a way to fix it. But his passion was singing, witnessing and talking about the Lord. Throughout his 88 years on this earth he lived in Louisiana, Texas, California, Nevada, Alaska.

Deacon Anthony was preceded in death by his Father, Benjamin Anthony, Mother, Sarah Anthony, Sisters, Clara, Marion and Eula Mae, Brothers, Leo, Alvin and Eulius, Nieces, Patsy, Cynthia, and Kim, Nephew, Anthony, and Grand Daughter Lanienna Stone.
