On July 20, 1954, in Temple, Texas, the late Mamie Hasty and Otis Charles Alcorn welcomed their son, Michael DeCarlo Hasty, into the world. Michael was a proud member of the Killeen High School Class of 1972. He was an avid sports fan and a gifted athlete - a true triple threat - excelling in baseball and boxing, but his greatest love and talent was shone on the football field. His skills earned him recognition in the local newspaper when the Killeen Kangaroos competed in a District Championship game.
In the early 80’s, Michael relocated to Longview, Texas. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and a deep love for music. He opened Mike’s CD’s that became a popular business throughout East Texas. His engaging personality, love for people, great music, and signature perfumed oils contributed to his success. He retired in 2018.
On March 26, 2025, Michael made his transition. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: JaMycal Hasty (Ashleigh) and Kendrick Campbell (Cameo), born from his union with Carol Campbell-McConnell; grandson: Kyzer Blake; granddaughter: Sevyn Oaklynn; sister: Joann Crooks; nieces: Shakisha, ShaQuala, Ayesha and Grace; nephews: Keldrick, Christopher, and Isaiah; and, godchildren: Stefan Pentecost and Tyler Kennedy. His memory will also be cherished by his former spouse, Palma Hughes, and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and loved ones.
Michael accepted Jesus as his personal Savior, and a company of loved ones awaits him on the other side of life, including his mother: Mamie Hasty Crooks; father: Otis Alcorn; bonus dad: Wallace Crooks Jr; and, a host of ancestors.
