Pauline Sanders Johnson

October 14, 1938 ~ July 22, 2020 (age 81)

On October 14, 1938, Pauline Johnson was born in Henderson (Rusk County), Texas and raised in Longview, Texas. Her parents who preceded her in death, were: Johnnie D. (Johnson) Earl and Odie Sanders. Pauline's siblings who preceded her in death were: Helen Hunt, Jealdean Carr, Billy Paul Sanders, Willie Otis and Dot Richey. Her surviving sister is: Opal Fisher.

Pauline attended Prairie View A&M University majoring in Home Economics. The skills she gained while at school were instrumental in her position as Primary Seamstress to Naval Officers at Miramar Naval Air Station in San Diego, California.

Pauline was married to James W. Johnson Jr. Of this union, they had four children: Jacqueline Johnson, Pamela Okoson, Jonathan Dow Johnson (preceded her in death), and James W. Johnson III. As a military wife, Pauline and her family traveled around the country and eventually settled in San Diego, California in 1967.

Pauline was actively involved in her church, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, S.P. Johnson Sr. Chapter #78. She supported causes related to law enforcement and worked as an armed security guard for a Federal Government Facility. While in San Diego, she belonged to a group of friends who became 'The Pokeno Club'. Through that group she participated in activities which provided financial donations to families and supporting those in need.

In 1989, Pauline returned to Longview and she continued to help others through charity and volunteer work with The Community Out-Reach Mission (CORM). Pauline continued her praise and love of the Lord as a faithful member at her Church Home: Pleasant Green Baptist Church.

On July 22, 2020, Pauline left this world and gained her heavenly rest. She will be missed by many friends and relatives. She leaves to cherish her memory 3 children; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
