RL Holland was born January 16, 1943, in Carthage, Texas (Holland Quarters Community) to the parents of Roosevelt and Myra Holland.
RL attended school in Marshall, Texas and went to work soon after as an auto mechanic. RL owned Holland’s Garage for over 25 years; he was a successful business owner and well known and
loved in the community.
He took pride in gardening, and he loved hunting and fishing. RL was a walking compass, jack of all trades (he could do and/or fix just about anything.)
He met and married Mi Kim, whom he loved dearly, and cherished every day with her right by his side.
RL accepted Christ while attending Pine Grove Baptist Church, Carthage, Texas early on as a child but later joined the Korean Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. He was always available to provide a helping hand to the church when needed. He remained an active member until his health began to fail.
RL is preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren Regina and Boyce Lilly, Jr., his brothers, Roosevelt, Arvil, and Ardell Holland and sisters Ruby Williams, Essie Chumley, Albennie Cooks, and Betty Holland.
He leaves behind his loving wife Mi Kim; mother-in-law, Mo Puk Sil of S. Korea; sisters, Gracie Moss and Lillie Mack; sisters-in-law, Gloria Holland all of Longview, Texas and Mi Ra Kim of S. Korea; seven children, Linda Phillips, Rosie Davis (Larry), Wanda Rollins of Hallsville, TX, Sedric Holland (Brandie), LaTanya Sammons (Patrick), Kimberly Olsen (Timothy) of Rowlett, TX and Rolanda Hawley (Titus) of Gladewater, TX; 25 loving grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and many friends, including Betty, who were all very dear to him.
