Ray Scott Sr. Obituary

Ray Douglas Scott, Sr. was born February 1, 1953 in Dallas, Texas to Eddie Scott and Andrew Wells. He passed May 8, 2024 at Willows Rehab and Nursing Facility. Ray grew up in Kilgore and Liberty City, Texas graduating from Sabine High School in 1971. Ray grew up attending Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Kilgore. He was ordained as a deacon under the pastorship of Rev. Hazelton Gentry. Few of the places Ray worked were Kilgore Ceramics, Texas Eastman and Pak-Sher where he retired.  

Ray married Marilyn Lockett on July 28, 1984. This marriage was blessed with two children. Ray later joined Galilee under the leadership of Pastor J.B. Dunlap. Ray was a quiet man who loved the Lord and enjoyed helping with devotion during morning worship. Ray also enjoyed being outside and spending time with his family.  

Precious memories will forever be with his wife of 39 years, Marilyn. His son Ray D. Scott, Jr. and his wife Andrea; daughter Stephanie Scott Jones and her husband Cameron; Three  grandchildren Jaliyah Kay Jones, Ray Douglas Scott IlI, and Eriane Janae' Ryder. Cameron and Stephanie are expecting twin sons, Camden and Cordell. Ray, Jr. and Andrea are expecting a  daughter Zuree. Aunt, Bernice Scott Nolen and her husband James, Sister-in-law, Carolyn Lockett McAIlister; special cousins, friends and the Galilee Baptist Church family
