Sam Boyd Jr. (BKA) to his family as Junior, was born April 17, 1926 in Longview, TX to the parents of Sam Boyd Sr. and Johnnie Ethel Boyd.
He attended Greensville School, today known at Ned E. Williams Elementary School. He took pride and joy in farming, taking care of his fishing ponds and the beautification of his property. He worked for the Texas Highway Department for over 40 years until he retired.
Sam Boyd Jr. met and married Elizabeth Green and was married for 53 years and to this union one devoted daughter, Patricia A. Adams, was born.
He joined Pleasant Green Baptist Church at an early age where he served as an Usher and recognized for outstanding services for many years. He was always present and available to provide a helping hand to the church, community and to anyone in need. He was known by many as the door-keeper of the church. He remained a faithful member until his health failed and demise.
Sam Jr. is preceded in death by his wife, parents, great grandchild Desaree’ Nicole Miller, his brothers Leroy and Harvey Boyd and sister Rosie Boyd Lemuel.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Patricia A. Adams (Frank); his loving and devoted granddaughter, Lawanta Adams (Adrian); grandson, Corey Adams; a host of nieces, nephews,
and other relatives and friends; and a special friend, Beverly London.
