With reverence and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Willie Dean Jones Johnson, born May 10, 1941, to the late Ampy Jones and Jimmie Wade Jones. She was one of eleven children, raised in a large, loving family where faith, resilience, and togetherness were foundational. On February 23, 2026, she peacefully transitioned from this earthly life into eternal rest.
At an early age, she united with Pleasant Green Baptist Church, where her faith blossomed and remained steadfast throughout her life. She faithfully served as a devoted Choir member and Mission member, offering her time, voice, and heart in service to the Lord and her church community.
Willie Dean was a proud graduate of Ned E. Williams School. Throughout her lifetime, she worked diligently as a seamstress and in food service, exemplifying a strong work ethic and a commitment to providing for her family. Whether through the garments she crafted or the meals she prepared, she served others with care and excellence.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, James Johnson; two brothers, Ampy Jones Jr. and Leonard Jones; one sister, Walter Elois Jones; and one cherished granddaughter, Anna Maria.
She leaves to treasure her memory six devoted children:
Naomi Newsome of Longview, TX;
Dirona (Lester) Robinson of Murphy, TX;
Chrystl (Darrell) Ardoin of Missouri City, TX;
Kimberley Smith of Dallas, TX;
Margene (LaTisha) Smith of Houston, TX;
and Courtney Smith of Longview, TX;
And one special bonus daughter, Monnie Brooks of Dallas, TX.
She is also survived by four sisters: Vernell Williams, Mertie Derricks, Mary Lois Jones, and Ella Carol Moncure; and three brothers: Wade Jones, Edmond Roy, and Wilton (Linda) Jones, all of Longview, TX.
Her legacy continues through 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 24 great-greatgrandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish her warmth, wisdom, strength, and unwavering faith.
Her life was a testimony of devotion — to God, to family, and to service. Though she is no longer with us in body, her love and influence will remain woven into the fabric of generations to come.
