Obituary

Willie Fern Whitman was born April 25, 1929 to Willie and Creola Davis in Gregg County, Hallsville, Texas.

She was added to the Harrison St. Church of Christ at an early age. She was married to James Whitman for 40 years. God blessed her with three beautiful children, Doris, Darnell and Calvin and a host of grandchildren and great‐grandchildren.

Willie was a head cook at various restaurants. She loved to cook fish and potato salad for church functions. Willie taught Sunday School in her earlier years. Her favorite hymn was, “Farther Along”.

Willie was preceded in death by her husband James, parents Willie and Creola Davis, brother T.J. and sisters Cecil, Mary, Ruby, and Ethel Lee.

She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Doris of California; sons: Darnell of Longview, and Calvin of Washington; 10 grandchildren; 4 great‐grandchildren; sister: Ethelene (Elvin) Crain and many nieces and nephews.
